Batten (
Appearance[]
Batten is a, somewhat, tall old man, being a bit taller than Mamoru, and has short grey hair. He wears red glasses, a moss green suit with a white shirt and a red tie, and dark brown shoes. He is also regularly seen with a walking cane.
In his childhood, he looks almost the same that he does in the present with the exception of him being a bit shorter, being shorter than young Daisuke, and lack of his red glasses. He wears the same outfit as young Daisuke, consisting of a white t-shirt, orange shorts, light grey socks and Yokato's shoes.
Personality[]
He is a generous, compassionate and amicable person.
In his childhood, his personality is akin to young Daisuke's, seeing as both of them were, and still are, deeply passionate about soccer.
Plot[]
After Mamoru and, subsequently, the rest of the Raimon players learnt about the existence of a second notebook by Daisuke in the hands of Batten, they set out to Yokato.
When Raimon arrives at Yokato, he warmly greets Mamoru and Natsumi. Natsumi asks him about how he's in possession of Daisuke's notebook, which he responds by saying that the both of them were best friends, shocking Natsumi and Mamoru. Batten says that Daisuke's soccer career started there, but he later had to move to Toukyou during Junior High School, thus creating the legendary Inazuma Eleven.
Batten proceeds to lead Mamoru, Natsumi, and Hitomiko to his office, telling more about young Daisuke's love for soccer, their training, and how the two of them used to often hunt boars, with Batten having one of the boars Daisuke took down hung up on his office.
Hitomiko follows up the conversation by questioning him about Daisuke's notebook, which he replies that it's his hidden notebook where he wrote everything that he couldn't in his first notebook. Batten then explains that Daisuke handed him this notebook a few days before his death, affirming that he should destroy it if something happened to him. Batten, however, never destroyed this notebook, making him cry in front of them, because he had the intuition that, one day, the rightful person would come to to claim it, nodding to Mamoru that he could claim it.
Mamoru is then intrigued by the techniques in this notebook, shockingly saying that his grandfather pulled off techniques like those, which Batten comments that Daisuke never pulled them off as they were too difficult to perform, justifying why Daisuke called the ultimate secret techniques, making Mamoru even more determined to master these techniques. Seeing Mamoru's eagerness, Batten introduces Yokato to Mamoru and the rest of the Raimon players.
