Betelgeuse (ベテルギウス, Beterugiusu) is a forward for Shadow of Orion.
Appearance[]
Betelgeuse has a tall, muscular build with fair skin and a slim face. He has black, shoulder-length hair spiked in numerous places, with a gray highlight towards the top. His eyes are jade green, with thick lower eyelashes, and black eyebrows. As a Disciple of Orion, he possesses a Seal of Orion, located on his chest.
Plot[]
Following Irina's declaration to the world[1], Betelgeuse appears alongside his team, Shadow of Orion, to play a match against Zhao Jinyuns. During the match, following her "Prelude" command, Betelgeuse receives a pass from Yurika, stating that she's as precise as ever. Betelgeuse later receives a long pass from Yurika, and begins to dribble down the field as Nosaka chases him. Li attempts to steal the ball with a sliding tackle, but Betelgeuse jumps over this, making a high pass to Yurika over Li and Nosaka.
Later, Betelgeuse fights against Li for the ball, each trying to win with the strength of their headbutts as their respective teammates observe. After Yurika gives the "Requiem" command, Betelgeuse joins her and Rigel in charging through Zhao Jinyuns' formation. Thanks to Alnitak and Alnilam's marking, Betelgeuse successfully chains a pass to Yurika.
In the second half[2], thanks to his strategy, Kidou successfully intercepts Betelgeuse's pass, surprising him and Yurika. Later, as Yurika is frozen in place by a traumatic vision of Irina, Betelgeuse approaches to support her, putting his hand on Yurika's shoulder and reassuring her that they're still three points ahead. With Kidou's order to attack, Asuto gets through Betelgeuse with a pass to Aphrodi. Observing Zhao Jinyuns' pace, Betelgeuse states that sometimes they move violently, and other times slowly.
Following Clario, Ichinose, and Haizaki's goal with Perseus Orb, Betelgeuse once again approaches to support a tormenting Yurika, telling her to not let Zhao Jinyuns' pace throw her of. At Shadow of Orion's next kick-off, Betelgeuse passes to Yurika, who runs ahead and passes back to him, dodging Ichinose. Later, Betelgeuse has the ball stolen from him by Aphrodi. After Asuto's conversation with Yurika, Betelgeuse scuffles against Li, who leaps over him and alludes to the fire within Shadow of Orion's hearts that Asuto kindled.
During Yurika's vision, an image of him appears in the snowy field alongside his teammates, all emerging from the shadows thanks to the sparks kindled in their hearts. Following the crisis, he joins Yurika in requesting a rematch with Asuto some time in the future.

Trivia[]
- His name, Betelgeuse, is a reference to the eponymous second-brightest star located in the Orion constellation, a reference to Shadow of Orion's naming motif.
