Anime[]

In the match between Big Waves and Inazuma Japan[1], Angler, Shrimp, Water, and Dolphin used it, successfully stealing the ball from Kidou.

They used Box Lock Defense again against Gouenji[2], who tried to escape by kicking the ball up. Dolphin was still able to steal it by outjumping him, before heading to the goal. They used their tactics later on to surround Fubuki, who tried to pass the ball to Hiroto. Angler and Dolphin successfully stopped it by trapping the ball with their legs. They used it again to corner Kidou, who felt being like trapped in a box. He then remembered their coach Kudou telling that "The key to the box... is inside yourselves!", then his practice in his dorm room. He used it to keep the ball long enough to make Angler and Dolphin suddenly bump into each other. Kidou capitalized on their mistake by making a long pass to Gouenji, successfully breaking through Box Lock Defense. It was then used by Angler, Surfin', Kraken, and Turtle to surround Gouenji, who managed to break it by passing the ball to Fubuki.

Game[]

Unlike in the anime, once a player has been caught by this tactics, it cannot be broken. However, it was broken once in the game during the match against Big Waves by the tactics Dancing Ball Escape.

Manga[]

In the match between Big Waves and Inazuma Japan[3], Water, Angler, Dolphin, and Barracuda used it, successfully stealing the ball from Kidou. They used it again later on to surround him, but Kidou ended up passing the ball to Tsunami. They used it another time against him, but he used Raiden's sliding tackle to jump over Box Lock Defense.
