In order to recruit Guanyu, The Lagoon has to be defeated first in the story mode. Also, the following requirements are needed:
Item: Three Kingdoms Signed Cardboard (三国志のサイン色紙, obtained at the end of Chapter 6)
Photo: Military Flag on the Wall (壁にかかった軍旗の写真, taken at Jeanne's base in Vaucouleurs in the France era)
After this, he can be scouted by an amount of 4000 Yuujou points.
