Velasco Meléndez (ベラスコ・メレンデス, Berasuko Merendesu) is a midfielder for Muteki no Giant.

Appearance[]

Velasco has fair skin and is tall in height, but slim. He has spiky green hair, teal eyes and orange  eyebrows. He also has freckles on his cheeks.

Plot[]

Velasco appeared at the airport when Spanish team Muteki no Giant came to Russia for the Football Frontier International tournament. They met Inazuma Japan and American Star Unicorn and later everyone was warmly welcomed by captain of the Russian team Perfect Spark, Froy Girikanan. When Clario Orvan uncovered true identity of Reinaldo Baraja as the Disciple of Orion, Velasco threw him the ball and Clario used his Diamond Ray to hit Baraja. He got injured and had to leave the field.

In the second half of the match Japan quickly regained the ball using new tactics double block and triangle passes. When Fubuki Atsuya's shot was blocked, Clario took the ball and charged through Japan's defense. He shot with his Magaru Diamond Ray and Velasco stated mockingly that Endou Mamoru didn't learn anything when he used his technique Diamond Hand. However it evolved in the last moments into Diamond Arm and Endou unexpectedly stopped Clario. In the flashback Velasco was seen with his teammates talking about the teams that they could meet in the FFI tournament. Velasco stated that America seemed to be really strong. In his opinion fact that Japan beat Korea's team, didn't prove anything about their strength, since Korea had Disciple of Orion of among them.

When the match resumed after Japan scored the second goal, Bergamo Regult and Luther Fandam shot with new technique Twin Lancer. Thanks to this Spain took the lead with 3 points. Later Inazuma Japan counterattacked using Gouenji Shuuya's Last Resort however Clario, along with Rufino Ávalos and Domelgo Domínguez blocked it with The Shelter. At the end of the match Japan used another different strategy when Inamori Asuto rushed through the field, passing all players on his way, including the goalkeeper Alonso Fibiano. As a result, Japan tied with Spain 3-3 and the match soon ended.

It was shown later that Russia defeated Spain with a score 6-0. Invincible Giant won the next match against America with the result of 2-1, which helped Japan advance to the finals.
