Appearance[]
Yagyuu has long, dark greyish-brown hair, tied up in a high pony tail, and a tanned skin. He has an eyepatch with a cross like pattern in the middle, covering his right eye.
Plot[]
Yagyuu played with his team as the first opponent of Raimon in the Football Frontier Nationals. By the style of their ninja soccer, they were a difficult opponent for Raimon, as they couldn't lay a finger on them. During the match, he participated in a defensive strategy to stop Gouenji and Handa in their tracks by the use of their formation, Kakuyoku no Jin. After Endou injured himself by taking on the shot of Kirigakure, Tsuchi Daruma, Yagyuu used his own hissatsu technique, Bunshin Shoot, but was easily caught by Endou.
At half-time, they had the lead by 1-0. In the second half, Sengoku Igajima fiercely attacked, and made various shots on Raimon's goal, though the defenders of Raimon were able to block all of the shots. Yagyuu participated in a different attack formation, Engetsu no Jin, to surprise and pass Raimon's defenders, in which they succeeded, though in the end, they faild to score. After this, Raimon was able to turn the score around by goals of Gouenji and Kazemaru, thus making the score 2-1 for Raimon.

Trivia[]
His name, Yagyuu Juurou, is derived from 柳生十兵衛, which, in turn, means Yagyuu Juubei, one of the most famous samurai in the feudal era often considered the best swordsman in the Yagyuu clan, a reference to his profile and to Sengoku Igajima's profile. Incidentally, his eyepatch is based on legends told about Yagyuu Juubei.
His dub name, Sam Samurai, is an alliteration with samurai, which is also a reference to Sengoku Igajima's dub naming motif.
